The hypocrisy of Democrats appears to know no bounds. After years of hysterically criticizing former President Donald Trump for every move he made, they now let Joe Biden do whatever he wants.

Magnifying the hypocrisy is that Biden has to employ some of Trump’s practices to keep the country moving along. He and leftist Democrats won’t ever admit this as Biden gets a pass for his actions.

Trump focused much of his term in office to making the United States energy independent. Biden on the other hand has worsened the country’s energy position, including depleting U.S. oil reserves. Now he’s following Trump’s plan to boost oil reserves and Democrats aren’t screaming at him.

The Biden administration purchased 2.8 million barrels to partially refill the strategic petroleum reserve (SPR) at prices significantly higher than prevailing prices when former President Donald Trump proposed to top off the key stockpile in 2020, the Department of Energy (DOE) announced Thursday.

The 2.8 million barrels announced Thursday are part of a wider effort by the DOE to refill America’s emergency oil reserves after the administration released about 180 million barrels in 2021 and 2022 to bring down prices at the pump ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.

The big difference between Trump’s plan and what Biden announced is the price of the oil. Trump was viciously attacked for his plan, which would have refilled reserves at lower prices, while Biden is given a free pass even though his plan will cost taxpayers more.

Biden’s administration purchased oil refills at prices that hit an average of nearly $77 per barrel. That is almost three times the $25 per barrel price when Trump proposed to top off the nation’s oil reserves in the spring of 2020.

The contrast in criticism of the two presidents is striking. Senate Democrats that included then-Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer publicly attacked Trump’s plan. His plan would have taken advantage of low prices caused by the pandemic, but Democrats screamed that he would be delivering a $3 billion handout to major energy corporations.

Fast forward to today and Biden’s release of oil reserves to bring down prices are turning out to be much more expensive by about three times the cost. Biden’s Department of Energy argued that the refill purchase price today is about $20 lower than the $95 per barrel sale price of the released reserves.

Buying oil at $77 per barrel to refill the reserves under Biden is not a bargain compared to the $25 per barrel it could have been purchased under Trump. That math doesn’t add up to any reasonable person. Biden’s DOE said it purchased 32 million barrels at an average price of under $77.

The SPR was at its lowest level since 1983 when tallied in December 2023. Experts and former DOE officials have stated that it could take decades to refill the SPR to pre-Biden levels.

Another slap in the face to Americans is what Biden did with the oil released from the reserves in 2021 and 2022. The goal, according to the administration, was to lower skyrocketing gas prices for American consumers. The reality is that millions of barrels of oil were sold to Chinese corporations or interests.

Where are all the leftist pundits and Democrat politicians when Biden is exposed with another connection to helping the Chinese at the expense of the American taxpayer?
