President Joe Biden shocked the world on Sunday when he dropped out of the 2024 presidential race. Even more surprising than him dropping out, however, was the way that he did it.
Instead of dropping out of the race in a televised address that would allow him to speak directly to the American people, Biden took the cowardly route of simply issuing a statement on social media. Biden still has yet to address his exit from the race on camera in any way.
Just one day before this, however, the businessman Sandy Pensler showed the world how one can really drop out of a race with class. Pensler put Biden to shame on Saturday when he dropped out of the Michigan Senate GOP primary during a rally for Donald Trump. He then immediately endorsed Mike Rogers in the hopes of winning the Senate back for Republicans.
From The Hill:
“My campaign was always about making America better. The best way to do that is to enact President Trump’s policies,” Pensler said during Trump’s rally in Grand Rapids, Mich., shouting “Let’s go Trump! Let’s go Trump!”“To do that, we need control of the Senate. A divisive continued primary effort hurts the chances of that, and that’s not okay. So tonight, I’m doing the right thing and ceasing my Senate candidacy,” he continued.
“It’s the right thing. President Trump endorsed Mike Rogers. Tonight, so am I,” Pensler added.
Biden, take note, because that is how you drop out of a race!
Instead of dropping out by hiding behind a keyboard and issuing a quick statement, Pensler actually had the guts to face the people who have been supporting him. He wanted them to hear his words from his own lips, rather than have them read a cold statement that could have been drawn up by literally anyone.
It’s sad that we currently have a president who didn’t have the courage to do the same thing.
Rogers Responds To Pensler
This comes after Trump and other Michigan Republicans rallied behind Rogers, effectively forcing other conservatives out of the race for the good of the party. Rogers himself was grateful to get Pensler’s endorsement.
More from The Hill:
“Thank you, Sandy,” Rogers said. “I am honored to have you stand with us and all Republicans to win the state of Michigan. Thank you for your courage. Thank you for your leadership. You’re going to be an important voice going forward in our party in Michigan.”
In dropping out of this race with grace and dignity, Pensler put the national Republican Party first. While most of the attention is on the race for the White House, few things are more important than Republicans winning back the Senate.
Conservative candidates all over the country should take to heart how Pensler endorsed Rogers immediately after dropping out. It’s time for Republicans everywhere to rally behind the candidates who have the best chance of winning so that we can finally take back Congress.
Key Takeaways:
- Sandy Pensler drops out of Michigan senatorial race.
- Pensler immediately endorses Mike Rogers.
- He dropped out in person, putting Biden to shame in the process.
