Hours After Nikki Haley Loses Primary – 1 Surprise Number Shocks Republicans

Democrats have pledged to do whatever is possible to keep former President Donald Trump from regaining the White House. People who paid attention to previous presidential elections know that Democrats championed such methods as mail-in ballots for everyone and ballot harvesting.

What people may not realize is that sly Democrats, independents and non-affiliated voters know how to influence primary elections of the opposite party. Republican voters need to pay attention to open primaries and how votes are tallied.

Open primaries allow voters to vote across party lines. This means Democrats and Independents can vote for a Republican candidate in the primary. This primary method of voting can influence results. Reports have revealed that this is how Nikki Haley surged against Trump in the New Hampshire primary.

From Breitbart:
Of Haley voters in the Granite State, CNN said, “about 7 in 10 said they were registered as undeclared prior to Tuesday.” CNN relied on an exit poll to make its shocking statement.

The ploy didn’t work in trying to topple Trump early in the election cycle. Major news outlets called the election in Trump’s favor within minutes of polls closing. Trump trounced the former South Carolina governor by double digits despite the opposition voter influence.

This wasn’t the first dominating win for Trump in the primary season. He won the Iowa caucuses by an historic 30 percent, and it only took the Associated Press 31 minutes to call the race.

Trump secured the most delegates after his New Hampshire win and pushed his overall count to 32. Haley follows with 17 delegates while former candidates Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy held 9 and 3 delegates, respectively. The party nominee needs 1,215 delegates to win with 2,368 delegates remaining.

The next primary is South Carolina on Feb. 24. This is Haley’s home state, and she is trailing in the polls against Trump. Sitting U.S. Sen. Tim Scott (R) has endorsed Trump over Haley.

Trump’s early domination has Republicans calling for Haley to quit the race and allow Trump to build his campaign to take down Biden in the general election. Not only is Trump crushing GOP challengers, but he is also gaining key GOP endorsements.

Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX) and Debbie Fischer (R-NE) didn’t waste any more time as they endorsed Trump shortly after his New Hampshire victory.

“I have seen enough,” Cornyn wrote on social media. “To beat Biden, Republicans need to unite around a single candidate, and it’s clear that President Trump is Republican voters’ choice.”

That unity can keep opposition voters at bay in open primaries and help secure Trump’s path to the November election.

Key Takeaways:

  • A CNN poll revealed that 70% of Nikki Haley voters were not registered Republicans.
  • The survey showed how the open primary in New Hampshire boosted her numbers.
  • Despite the padded stats from Democrats and Independents, Trump won handily.
