The country is in a state of shock over the attempted assassination attempt of Donald Trump. Millions are still reeling from the news, as reports keep pouring in. We’ve only just started to learn about what happened—and what this means for our country.
But one thing is already certain: the Secret Service failed miserably. While brave agents rushed in to help Trump, they failed to stop a gunman from firing on him.
Many people are demanding to know how this could have happened. One of those people is a top Republican in the House of Representatives. Just minutes after the news spread around the world, he was calling out the head of this agency. Now, she is in for a whole lot of trouble.
From Fox News:
The House Oversight Committee is summoning the head of the U.S. Secret Service to testify on the deadly shooting at former President Trump’s rally on Saturday night.“Today, President Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt when a gunman fired a weapon at him at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania,” House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., wrote in a letter to Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle. “At least one bystander is dead.” …
In addition to Comer’s panel, the House Homeland Security Committee said earlier it was also seeking more information on Saturday’s events.
House Oversight Committee head James Comer is calling on the head of the Secret Service to testify before Congress. He sent a letter on the very day a gunman tried to kill former President Donald Trump. The current head of the agency is Kimberly Cheatle, a Biden appointee.
Soon after the assassination attempt, word began to spread about the seeming lack of adequate security being provided for Trump. Some claimed that Trump’s campaign repeatedly requested additional agents but were denied by both Cheatle and DHS head Mayorkas. Now, we are learning that Cheatle’s priorities might not have been maintaining an elite force of protectors.
From The Post Millennial:
Eyes turned to Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, who was appointed to helm the agency by President Biden nearly two years ago. Cheatle prioritized diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and vowed for diversity to be a primary focus…In a past interview with CBS News, Cheatle revealed her top priorities for the agency, such as creating a “diverse” workforce that would prioritize making female agents up 30 percent of its workforce by 2030. She also boasted about allowing a female YouTuber to train with agents.
So, instead of hiring the very best to protect our presidents, Cheatle was looking to win a woke merit badge. She prioritized far-left initiatives like DEI, over keeping officials safe. This might explain recent stories about Secret Service agents getting in car wrecks and being arrested while overseas. It seems this agency, like all those under Biden, was being horribly mismanaged.
On top of that, the First Lady is taking heat for taking precedence over the former President.
From The Post Millennial:
Before former President Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where he was the target of a failed assassination attempt, Secret Service resources were reportedly redirected to a Biden campaign event helmed by Jill Biden as both the First Lady and Trump were in the same state at the time. This decision was part of the Secret Service’s protocol to treat Trump as a “former president,” despite him being the current frontrunner for president in the upcoming election.
Secret Service decided to direct resources to Jill Biden, which apparently took resources away from Trump’s event. It’s hard to ignore the partisan pettiness associated with this decision. Jill Biden is the first lady; while she requires protection, she is not the president.
Yet the Secret Service did not consider Trump important enough to provide adequate security as he was only a “former president.” This distinction is shocking and unacceptable.
For the Biden administration to allow this to happen is unbelievable. Cheatle and other Secret Service officials—not to mention DHS and the DOJ—need to be held accountable. Trump only survived because he turned his head. All these officials need to lose their jobs.
Key Takeaways:
- House Republican James Comer called on Secret Service head Kimberly Cheatle to testify before Congress.
- Investigations are being opened over the Secret Service’s failure to prevent an attempt on Trump’s life.
- Cheatle prioritized woke DEI initiatives over recruiting qualified agents.
- Jill Biden diverted security from Trump’s campaign for another event.
