Liz Cheney—daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney—has made herself an enemy of Donald Trump. She opposed him following the 2020 Election, even joining Democrats’ so-called witch hunt, despite being a Republican congresswoman.
Her turning on the former president resulted in a censure from the Wyoming Republican Party—and a primary defeat.
But it doesn’t seem as if Cheney realizes that most of the GOP is not on her side. She continues to speak against the party’s presumptive nominee. And, during a recent interview, she made a claim that will have most Republicans laughing.
From Daily Wire:
Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) suggested during an interview over the weekend that she may still enter the 2024 presidential election, even though the process is already well underway.“I haven’t endorsed anybody in this presidential race, certainly would never support Donald Trump,” she said…
Tapper responded by asking: “Are you still considering it, or would you rule it out?”
“I haven’t made any decisions about it yet,” Cheney responded. “I’m going to do whatever is necessary to defeat Donald Trump.”
While speaking with CNN, Cheney discussed the upcoming election. Despite losing support and respect among Republicans, she is still on the warpath against Donald Trump. And she said she is “going to do whatever is necessary to defeat Donald Trump.”
It seems she is suggesting a run for president herself—in an attempt to block Trump from winning.
We do not know if Cheney plans on making a very late entry into the GOP primaries. Or, if she intends to run as an independent candidate.
What is particularly galling about her statement, however, is the total absence of the same determination to defeat Joe Biden. Under President Biden, America has been hit with historic inflation, over 6 million illegal immigrants, an ignored crime epidemic, and a looming global war with Russia, Iran, and China.
Yet Cheney is not concerned if Biden returns for a second term, but Trump.
Critics will no doubt eviscerate Cheney for her shocking lack of perspective. Few will believe she would run for any other reason but a personal vendetta against Trump. Regardless, it is highly unlikely Cheney will be elected president.
Key Takeaways:
- Liz Cheney suggested she might run for president to stop Donald Trump.
- The disgraced congresswoman claimed Trump was a “dictator.”
- Cheney failed to direct the same level of criticism against Joe Biden.
