Kamala Suffers a Last-Minute Blow in Swing State Michigan as Squad Member Refuses Support

With just days left until Election Day, Kamala Harris is feeling the heat. We’re seeing the Democratic Party splinter at the seams, right when they need to stand together the most.

As voters in key states like Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan prepare to head to the polls, Harris desperately needs every Democratic endorsement she can get. But now, a last-minute surprise is coming from none other than her own side of the aisle.

This isn’t some random political dissenter—this is Rep. Rashida Tlaib, one of the most far-left members of Congress and a vocal member of the so-called “Squad.” And her refusal to endorse Harris, especially in a state as pivotal as Michigan, may signal a serious problem for the Democratic ticket.

A Massive Rift in the Democrat Ranks

Michigan has always been a big player in presidential elections. In 2016, it tipped the scales for Trump, and it’s been a battleground ever since. Harris, currently running neck and neck with Trump in the state, is counting on every Democratic leader to rally support. But as Tlaib demonstrated, there are some clear fractures in the party. And Harris’s stance on Israel—her support for the only democratic state in the Middle East—seems to be a critical sticking point.

From Fox News:
Far-left “Squad” member Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., declined to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for president Friday at a United Auto Workers union rally in Detroit.

This public snub is a big deal. Tlaib is known for her strong, often controversial views, especially concerning Israel. She’s been vocal about her disapproval of the Biden-Harris administration’s backing of Israel in its ongoing war against Hamas, especially since the October 7th massacre, where over 1,520 people were brutally murdered.

But this is more than just a policy difference. Tlaib’s refusal to back Harris is a clear signal to her base, particularly in Michigan, that they’re under no obligation to vote blue on Election Day.

The Israel Factor

Let’s not beat around the bush: Israel is a cornerstone of American foreign policy, especially for Republicans and a significant portion of Democrats. But the further left the Democrats go, the more dissent we see. The Squad, in particular, has been a thorn in the side of Democratic leadership on this issue. They’re openly critical of Israel, which doesn’t sit well with the mainstream of the Democratic Party or, frankly, most of the country.

The Tlaib-Harris divide highlights a crucial problem for the Democrats. On one hand, they need the mainstream to win the election, but on the other, they’ve catered to their far-left wing for so long that they’re now losing control. And in a state like Michigan, where the Arab-American vote is significant, this rift could cost Harris dearly.

From Fox News:
Tlaib, the lone Palestinian-American member of Congress, has been critical of the Biden-Harris administration’s support for Israel in the war against Hamas since the Oct. 7, 2023 terror attack, in which 1,500 people were slaughtered.

A Potential Game-Changer in Michigan

Harris and her team know they can’t afford to lose Michigan. The “blue wall” states—Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania—are essential if they hope to beat Trump. Losing support in one of these could signal the end for the Harris campaign. And with Tlaib now withholding her endorsement, there’s no doubt this will weaken Harris’s standing among far-left voters, many of whom are now being told they don’t need to vote for her.

Harris’s campaign has tried to sweep this under the rug, but in reality, this is a blow. It’s not just a matter of one vote—it’s the ripple effect. Every voter Tlaib can influence, particularly the large Palestinian-American community in Michigan, now sees that even a key Democratic figure like Tlaib isn’t fully behind Harris. That could very well lead to more abstentions or, worst-case scenario for Harris, even a few crossing the aisle.

From Fox News:
Rather than lend her support to Harris, Tlaib made a general plea for voters to get to the ballot box on Tuesday, according to the Detroit News.

Translation? Vote if you want, but Tlaib isn’t telling them to vote for Harris. In other words, she’s leaving the door open for people to vote however they like—or not at all.

If Harris thought she had the support of her party on lock, this week’s developments should serve as a wake-up call. The party isn’t united, and as Election Day looms, the cracks are becoming glaringly obvious.

This isn’t just about policy disagreements—it’s about a divided party at a time when unity could make or break the election. And in Michigan, a crucial battleground state, that divide could be the tipping point.

Key Takeaways:

  • Democratic Divisions Exposed: Just days before the election, Tlaib’s refusal to endorse Harris in Michigan highlights major fractures within the Democratic Party.
  • Impact on Harris’s Campaign: Harris risks losing crucial support in Michigan, especially among Arab-American voters who follow Tlaib’s lead.
  • Trump’s Advantage: With Democrats splintering, Trump’s chances in the blue wall states just got a boost, making Michigan all the more critical for 2024.
