A political historian recently revealed his assessment of how Jill Biden, wife to the president, is fueling the push for her husband to seek a second term. He believes Jill’s intentions for another four years in power are not as noble as previous first ladies.

Douglas Brinkley, author of “The Unfinished Presidency,” told CBS News’ “Face The Nation” on Sunday that Jill Biden has done the exact opposite of what other first ladies have done.“She is the vital part. Dr. Jill Biden is it,” he said. “She likes power. She wants to stay. She wants some sense of revenge.”
Brinkley contrasted Jill to previous first ladies that told their husbands they didn’t want to serve a second term. These included the wives of former Presidents Harry Truman and Lyndon B. Johnson.
The historian noted that Bess Truman didn’t like Washington, D.C., and wanted to return to a more familiar life in Independence, Missouri. Claudia Alta “Lady Bird” Johnson didn’t want to stay in the nation’s political center and preferred Texas when she convinced her husband to step down.
Brinkley gave the opinion that Jill Biden likes the power in D.C. along with her teaching position at Virginia Community College. He said the social setting and overall environment is her home.
He said Jill Biden doesn’t want to relinquish what she has after years of attacks against her and the president. He referred to her intentions as “childish” based on reports of how she feels about leaving the White House.
