Hours After GOP Candidate Drops Out – New Poll Delivers Shock Results in Swing State

Pollsters and pundits love to banter about the latest polling results as election day draws near, especially as candidates drop out and the field changes.. The onset of primary elections in key early voting states has created a feverish pitch for evaluating poll results leading into the 2024 presidential election.

The media is eating up poll results fresh off the wire. Everyone is focused on how well the Republican candidates will fare on voting day. The Democrat primary results are all but set in stone. GOP challengers still must prove themselves.

All Republican challengers must overcome the obvious frontrunner, former President Donald Trump, who has control in every poll. If GOP hopefuls can’t surpass Trump in the early caucuses, their hopes will fade quickly.

The latest data from Suffolk University shows Trump is shining bright among Iowa voters ahead of the much-awaited Iowa caucus. His polling lead, and the expected, result are being called “historic.”

From Breitbart:
“I think anything over ten points is really considered a blowout,” said Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird (R). “And right now, President Trump is pulling at maybe 30 points ahead. That’s just incredible. It’s unprecedented. It’s historic.”

According to the survey, Trump leads the GOP primary with support from 54 percent of likely Iowa caucus goers. Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley comes in 34 points behind with 20 percent support, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis falls seven points behind Haley with 13 percent support.

Making a dent in the polls is businessman Vivek Ramaswamy who has pushed his anti-woke agenda. He garnered 6 percent support, followed by early quitter former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at 2 percent. Christie bailed from the race earlier this week.

Trump has kept charging forward. He is poised to set a new Republican record by squashing opponents in the Iowa caucus. No GOP candidate has ever won the caucus by more than 12 points. The possibility has Bird predicting a huge win for the 45th president.

“His rallies are jam-packed, and there’s enthusiasm all over the state,” Bird said. “You know, the caucuses are just over a week away, so they are not far away at all.”

Without Christie mucking up the stats, Trump still sits in full control of the GOP primary race with 54 percent support. The only real movement in the numbers shows Haley with a boost to 22 percent. DeSantis and Ramaswamy stayed at the same levels without Christie in consideration.

Trump is still the most favorable candidate in the GOP race. The poll showed Trump with a 73 percent favorable rating, with DeSantis and Haley trailing at 58 percent and 49 percent, respectively.

Key Takeaways:

  • Christie quit the GOP primary race while Trump maintained the top spot.
  • Haley showed gains over DeSantis, but all challengers trail the frontrunner.
  • The Iowa caucus is the first big test for Trump and could be an historic win.
