The mainstream media has been fawning over Hillary Clinton for decades. Indeed, she is not used to being called out for her lies by liberal outlets like CNN.
That’s why it undoubtedly came as a major shock to Clinton when a CBS legal analyst did just that. CNN fact-checks are typically reserved for conservatives like Donald Trump. This time, however, Clinton found herself on the receiving end of a brutal fact-check that she completely deserved.
Last Thursday, CNN senior legal analyst Elie Honig penned a column for New York Magazine in which he ripped the special Counsel Jack Smith’s “procedurally irregular” 165-page federal court filing regarding Trump’s immunity from prosecution.
“Anyone who objected to James Comey’s outrageous announcements about the Hillary Clinton email investigation on the eve of the 2016 election should feel the same about Smith’s conduct now,” he wrote.
Clinton fired back by claiming that there is “nothing out of the ordinary” in Smith’s case against Trump.
From Fox News:
“I think the situation is completely different, and this is in the context of an ongoing criminal procedure that the special counsel has brought against Donald Trump many, many months before the run-up to the election,” Clinton said in an interview. “It was, frankly, motivated by the orders of the judge in this trial, who has, it appears to me, been extremely favorable toward Trump, so I think that there is nothing out of the ordinary.”
Honig Responds
Honig responded by arguing that Clinton “got her facts wrong.” He also suggested that she confused Judge Aileen Cannon and Judge Tanya Chutkan.
More from Fox News:
“The problem, though, with Secretary Clinton’s analysis of the Jack Smith case is, respectfully, she’s got her facts wrong,” Honig said. “First of all, she’s confusing the judges here. I think she’s thinking of Judge Cannon, who, yes, has ruled almost entirely for Donald Trump. But that’s the judge in the other case. The judge here is Judge Chutkan. I get it, similar names — Judge Chutkan has ruled almost entirely against Donald Trump,” he said.“More to the point, the last thing we just heard Secretary Clinton say was — quote — ‘There is nothing out of the ordinary.’ But as I described before, the way they flipped this procedure is the opposite of the ordinary,” he said.
“They reversed the actual way that motions are done. You can talk to a hundred former federal prosecutors who’ve collectively handled 100,000 cases. They will all tell you they never filed their motions first. And I think it begs the question, what was the rush here? Why did Jack Smith have to ask for this, to quote Judge Chutkan, procedurally irregular approach?” Honig said. “So, I respectfully disagree with the secretary there.”
It’s incredibly rare that a member of the Democrat establishment like Clinton is actually called out on her lies by CNN. What she said here was so false, however, that even CNN could not help but fact-check it.
As Honig said, there is nothing “ordinary” about Smith’s case against Trump, and there has never been. Instead, it has always been a blatant witch hunt, the goal of which is to stop Trump from becoming president again.
Democrats like Clinton love to claim that Trump poses a threat to democracy. In reality, Smith’s case is the true threat to democracy. Smith wants to interfere with the democratic process of allowing voters to make Trump the next president. It’s as simple as that.
Clinton will never forgive Trump for destroying her dream of becoming president. She thought she had the 2016 election in the bag, which is why it was humiliating for her to be trounced in it by Trump. Since then, she’s obsessively attacked Trump whenever she can, resorting to blatant lies in the hopes of exacting revenge on him. Now, she’s taken these lies too far for even CNN to stand by her.
It doesn’t get much more pathetic than that.
Key Takeaways:
- Clinton defends Jack Smith’s investigation into Trump.
- Clinton then gets fact-checked by CNN.
- It’s rare that CNN calls out someone like Clinton on her lies.
