After Republican Official Goes After Trump – He Suffers 1 Quick Punishment

What’s Happening:

It’s no secret that Donald Trump is the man to beat in the 2024 GOP primaries. He is far and away the leader of the party’s presidential candidates. Even facing controversies and Democrat-led indictments, Trump continues to garner support from millions of voters.

But that doesn’t mean everyone within the party loves him. In 2016, a small group of Republicans–known as “NeverTrumpers”–tried to derail his success. Apparently, anti-Trump Republicans continue to express their dislike of the man–including government officials. In one swing state, a top official was outed for a history of anti-Trump slander. So, the secretary of state set him straight.

From Fox News:

Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose, the most prominent Republican in the race to unseat Democratic U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown next year, has fired one of his top aides after social media posts surfaced in which the staffer criticized Donald Trump…

The abrupt dismissal followed Trump political allies on X, formerly Twitter, discovering and posting a cache of old tweets from Nichols’ personal account that took aim at the former president, including for his impeachments, indictments and appearance.

Ouch. A top aide for Ohio’s secretary of state was recently exposed for a history of tweets criticizing Donald Trump. The Secretary of State, Frank LaRose, is running to win back one of Ohio’s Senate seats for the GOP. He can’t very well let his top aide become known for slandering the party’s biggest name.

So, Rob Nichols was suddenly fired.

According to reports, Nichols had previously worked for John Kasich, a former Ohio governor who ran for president in 2016. It appears Nichols did not appreciate Trump beating his boss. And Nichols allegedly used his personal account to criticize Trump over the left’s impeachments and indictments. Even his appearance.

It seems even Nichols was worried about what he said. He apparently deleted the account just before users started spreading what he posted.

Ohio is a swing state, with many Trump supporters. We shouldn’t be surprised to find LaRose getting rid of a Trump-hater when support from the former president could secure his nomination and victory.

But will this result in a much-coveted Trump endorsement? I guess we’ll find out.

Key Takeaways:

  • Ohio’s Secretary of State fired a top aide after learning of social media posts attacking Trump.
  • Frank LaRose is running for U.S. Senate and could be angling for support from the former president.
  • The aide had formerly worked for John Kasich, a 2016 rival of Trump’s.
