Joe Biden has forgotten what his border policies have done to Americans. People have been poisoned by illegal fentanyl flowing across the border and illegal aliens have committed heinous crimes against U.S. citizens.

Biden pumped millions of dollars into federal programs such as flights from foreign countries to help illegal immigrants get into the United States. He has made it clear he will not stop dumping illegal immigrants into U.S. cities no matter how many lives his actions affect.

One life that matters to Americans who is not to be forgotten was a 22-year-old college nursing student. She was murdered on the campus of the University of Georgia and one Republican is working to enshrine her memory using a law to fight illegal immigrants accused of crimes.

Rep. Mike Collins (R-Ga.) introduced the Laken Riley Act on Friday, which would “require the Secretary of Homeland Security to take into custody aliens who have been charged in the United States with theft, and for other purposes.”

The suspect in the horrific slaying is 26-year-old Jose Antonio Ibarra — an illegal immigrant from Venezuela. He has been charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, hindering a 911 call, and concealing Riley’s death.

The law specifies that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement must detain any illegal immigrants charged with theft or burglary. ICE confirmed that Ibarra, a Venezuelan national, was arrested on Sept. 8, 2022, after illegally crossing the U.S. southern border near El Paso, Texas.

ICE stated that Ibarra was released by border officials while waiting for a review of his case. Reports indicate that a year later he was arrested in New York City on charges of acting in a manner to injure a child less than 17 and a motor vehicle license violation. NYPD records don’t show any reports of Ibarra’s arrest.

Georgia lawmakers, spurred on by Collins, want to keep illegal immigrants who commit crimes behind bars.

“The senseless murder of Laken Riley by Jose Ibarra, who had no business being in this country, was another wakeup call as Americans experience an illegal alien crime wave because of Joe Biden’s open border and local sanctuary city policies,” Collins said.

Laken Riley can’t be brought back, Collins added, and he introduced the Laken Riley Act with a goal of “ensuring this doesn’t happen to another American.”

The funeral for Riley was held last week. Her death should show Biden and liberal politicians across the country why Americans need to be protected from foreigners who enter the country illegally and believe they can do whatever they want.
