Federal Court Strikes Down ‘Unconstitutional’ Minnesota 2nd Amendment Law

The left’s anti-Second Amendment, gun-grabbing agenda just took a significant hit in the blue state of Minnesota.

There, a federal appeals court has officially struck down a state law restricting public handgun permits to people under 21.

This decision is a massive victory for the Second Amendment and patriots everywhere who support it.

From The Washington Examiner:
The U.S. Appeals Court for the 8th Circuit panel of three judges ruled 3-0 in favor of the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus and other pro-gun groups. They found that the law, the Minnesota Citizens’ Personal Protection Act of 2003, barring 18 to 20 year olds from obtaining the permits, violated the 2nd and 14th amendments.

“Minnesota has not met its burden to proffer sufficient evidence to rebut the presumption that 18 to 20-year-olds seeking to carry handguns in public for self-defense are protected by the right to keep and bear arms. The Carry Ban violates the Second Amendment as applied to Minnesota through the Fourteenth Amendment, and, thus, is unconstitutional,” Judge Duane Benton wrote in the court’s Tuesday opinion.

The judgment upheld a prior ruling by the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, which relied on the 2022 Supreme Court majority opinion in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen.

Warning Shot To Gun-Grabbing Liberals

The fact that this decision came down in a blue state like Minnesota should serve as a warning shot to liberal politicians everywhere who may want to come for the guns of American patriots.

“Politicians should carefully consider the legal ramifications of infringing on Second Amendment rights, ” said Rob Doar, senior vice president and political director of the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus. “The Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus and its allies will relentlessly pursue legal action against any unconstitutional measures introduced in Minnesota.”

Minnesota’s liberal Attorney General Keith Ellison said he is “extremely disappointed” with the decision.

Unfortunately for him, however, there’s very little that he can do. While he’s already filed an appeal, it would have to be taken up by the Supreme Court. Of course, the Supreme Court has a clear conservative majority at the moment. This makes it very unlikely that they will rule in his favor.

Trump Still Protecting Gun Rights After Assassination Attempt

This also comes days after a 20-year-old gunman attempted to assassinate Donald Trump, shooting the former President in the ear. Despite this, Trump has made it clear that he still fully plans to protect gun rights if he wins the presidential election in November.

“We’ll see a continuation of supporting and defending the Second Amendment, and really where that comes into play is, you know, the judiciary,” Chris LaCivita, a senior advisor to Trump, said Tuesday.

This shows just how devoted to the Constitution the former President Trump really is. Imagine if a liberal politician like Joe Biden had been targeted by such an assassination attempt. He would have undoubtedly used it to fuel his gun-grabbing agenda for many years to come.

Trump, however, has no intention of letting one isolated incident destroy the Second Amendment that our founding fathers worked so hard to draw up for us.

In the end, liberals everywhere should notice what happened in Minnesota. We’ve had enough of them coming for our guns, and we’re not going to take it anymore!

Key Takeaways:

  • Minnesota strikes down state law restricting public handgun permits from anyone under 21.
  • Days after, a 20-year-old tried to assassinate Donald Trump.
  • Trump still plans to protect gun rights even after the shooting.
