DOJ Investigates Blue County Prosecutors for Racial Favoritism

In a refreshing turn of events, the Department of Justice under President Trump has returned to its original mission: actually prosecuting criminals. No more political witch hunts or targeting parents at school board meetings – this DOJ means business when it comes to safeguarding Americans from those who break the law.

But criminals don’t just lurk in dark alleys or behind ski masks. Sometimes, they’re the very people entrusted with upholding our laws. And it appears that’s exactly what’s happening in Minneapolis, where prosecutors are being investigated for something that would make our Founding Fathers roll over in their graves.

When “Justice” Picks Favorites

The Department of Justice has opened a civil rights investigation into Minnesota’s Hennepin County Attorney’s Office for directing prosecutors to consider a defendant’s race when making plea deals. Yes, you read that correctly – they’re explicitly using skin color to determine criminal punishments.

Attorney General Pam Bondi and Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon sent a letter to Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty announcing their investigation into whether her office “engaged in a pattern of practice of depriving persons of rights, privileges or immunities secured or protect by the Constitution.”

From ‘Justice Department letter’:

“In particular, the investigation will focus on whether HCAO engages in illegal consideration of race in its prosecutorial decision-making.”

What exactly is Moriarty’s office doing? Her recently adopted “Negotiations Policy for Cases Involving Adult Defendants” explicitly states that “racial identity… should be part of the overall analysis” and that prosecutors “should be identifying and addressing racial disparities at decision points, as appropriate.”

Remember when Lady Justice wore a blindfold? Apparently, in Minneapolis, she’s now peeking through to check everyone’s skin tone before deciding their fate.

Soros’ Justice System

If you’re wondering how such a radical prosecutor ended up in charge of Minnesota’s largest county, look no further than far-left billionaire George Soros. Like dozens of other progressive prosecutors across America, Moriarty received backing from Soros-funded political action groups.

Moriarty was elected in the wave of progressive district attorneys who took office following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis and subsequent Black Lives Matter protests. Like her ideological twins in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia, she’s faced fierce criticism for seeking lighter sentences for violent crimes and diverting more people to programs rather than jail.

This isn’t Moriarty’s first controversy, either. Just last month, she faced backlash for not charging a 33-year-old Minnesota state government employee who admitted to damaging six Tesla vehicles in a politically motivated vandalism spree. Political vandalism gets a pass, but heaven help you if you’re the wrong color when negotiating a plea deal in her jurisdiction.

Colorblind No More

Whatever happened to equal justice under law? Those words are literally engraved on the front of the Supreme Court building, yet progressive prosecutors like Moriarty are openly abandoning this foundational American principle.

The 14th Amendment guarantees equal protection under the law to all citizens regardless of race. It doesn’t include a footnote saying “unless a progressive prosecutor thinks your demographic group deserves special treatment.” This kind of race-based prosecution doesn’t promote justice – it destroys it.

The Democrats’ obsession with racial identity politics has reached its logical conclusion in these prosecutor offices. What started as “diversity initiatives” has morphed into a full-blown abandonment of colorblind justice. In their zeal to be “anti-racist,” they’ve embraced actual racism – treating citizens differently based solely on immutable characteristics. This isn’t progress; it’s regression to tribal justice systems we abandoned centuries ago.

When race becomes a factor in determining criminal penalties, we’ve moved from a justice system to a social engineering experiment. And the people who suffer most are law-abiding citizens in the very communities these prosecutors claim to champion. Crime rates in cities with Soros-backed prosecutors have skyrocketed, proving once again that progressive policies leave destruction in their wake.

The Trump administration’s DOJ investigation sends a clear message: The Constitution still matters, Lady Justice’s blindfold is non-negotiable, and no prosecutor is above the law – even in deep blue Minneapolis.

Key Takeaways:

  • Trump’s DOJ is investigating Minneapolis prosecutors for explicitly using defendants’ race to determine plea deals
  • George Soros-backed County Attorney Mary Moriarty implemented official policies requiring race-based criminal case decisions
  • This investigation shows Trump’s commitment to colorblind justice while Democrats push race-conscious prosecutions
