Connecticut Democrat Sen. Chris Murphy detailed Wednesday to MSNBC how illegal migrants are the people liberals “care about most.”
Murphy said that Democrats for more than three decades pushed the political “play” to include a path to citizenship for illegals. But that push has “failed” repeatedly, including a strong effort 11 years ago.
Liberal efforts, Murphy asserted in an interview with MSNBC host Chris Hayes, didn’t deliver for the undocumented “Americans” that Democrats cherish.
“Well, I mean, Chris, that’s been a failed play for 20 years. So you are right that that has been the democratic strategy for 30 years, maybe, and it has failed to deliver for the people we care about most, the undocumented Americans that are in this country,” Murphy stated.
Straight from the donkey’s mouth, Murphy exposed the dark truth behind Democrats’ love for people who break the laws of this country. He acknowledged that in years past only a few hundred illegals would cross the border daily compared to thousands now. He believes there is a call from the “bulk of this country” to “change the reality at the border.”
Democrats’ “reality” was born out in the recent Senate bill that Murphy said was designed to boost migrant rights, including a right to representation and earlier work permits, as well as deliver the biggest expansion of visas in 30 years. Senate Republicans stopped the bill Wednesday and kept it from moving on to the House.
Democrat leadership kept hidden the heart of the bill until the measure was slated for a vote. The text exposed how Democrats planned to split the $118 billion package among two foreign wars – Ukraine and Israel – and the U.S. southern border. The measure failed on a vote of 49-50 with four Republicans voting to support the bill.
Republican leadership in the House pledged that the bill would have been dead on arrival if it had passed the Senate. Democrat Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said he isn’t done with the measure. He stated he will present a new package before the Senate that includes foreign aid for Ukraine and Israel while pushing for separate funds to support for southern border security reforms.
