CNN Stumped As Trump’s Grocery Price Prediction Comes True

It’s a funny old world, isn’t it? You’ve got some people parading around as “experts,” puffing out their chests and telling us all how things really are, especially when it comes to complex stuff like the economy. They use big words, flash fancy charts, and often speak with a certainty that would make a preacher blush. Yet, more often than not, these grand pronouncements from on high seem to miss the mark when it comes to what regular, common-sense Americans are actually experiencing in their daily lives.

Then you have the media, bless their hearts. They fancy themselves the grand arbiters of truth, particularly when a conservative, and especially President Trump, dares to make an observation that doesn’t fit their pre-approved narrative. They practically trip over themselves in their rush to “fact-check” and “debunk,” often with a little too much glee. But oh, the sweet, quiet satisfaction when the actual, unvarnished facts come rolling in and leave them scrambling. It’s like watching a cat chase a laser pointer right into a wall – you almost feel sorry for them. Almost.

And so, it seems the truth has a funny way of biting back, especially when it involves your grocery bill and the pronouncements of a certain cable news network. Take CNN, for instance. Just a few short weeks ago, their resident fact-checker, Daniel Dale, was all over President Trump’s claims that grocery prices were starting to come down. “False again,” Dale confidently declared in late April, pointing to March data that still showed some modest increases. You could almost hear the smug satisfaction through the screen.

So, About Those “Facts,” CNN?

But then, as it so often does, reality decided to send a memo. The latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) data for April, released just this past Tuesday, landed like a lead balloon in the CNN newsroom. It showed the food-at-home index dipping by a significant 0.4% – the sharpest monthly decline in nearly five years, since September 2020 to be exact. And the star of this particular show? Eggs. Those breakfast staples saw their prices plummet by a whopping 12.7% in a single month, the biggest one-month plunge since 1984!

Suddenly, the confident pronouncements from CNN started to sound a tad… different. CNN Business, in a piece by David Goldman, had to concede that President Trump’s previous claims about egg prices are, get this, “true now.” Goldman even called the 12.7% egg price drop a “remarkable reversal.” You don’t say! While they still quibbled that Trump’s earlier percentage claims were “grossly inaccurate,” they had to admit the overall direction he pointed to was, indeed, accurate. The ground, it seems, shifted right under their fact-checking feet.

The White House, naturally, had a thing or two to say about this “remarkable reversal.” Deputy White House Press Secretary Anna Kelly didn’t mince words:

From ‘The Daily Caller, quoting Deputy White House Press Secretary Anna Kelly’:
Legacy media outlets were quick to blame President Trump for egg prices amid the bird flu outbreak, but refused to cover how his policies dramatically dropped prices. The truth hurts: while the legacy media tried everything to keep him out of office, President Trump won, his policies are working, and families across the country are benefitting from lower costs.

Can’t Stop the Spin Cycle

A direct hit from the White House! You’d think after such a public face-plant, there might be a moment of genuine introspection over at CNN. But then again, we are talking about the mainstream media. Even in their admission, CNN couldn’t resist trying to find a cloud for that silver lining. The same article that admitted Trump was “true now” on egg prices also made sure to emphasize that eggs are still 49% more expensive than a year ago and remain above 2021 levels – context, they huffed, that President Trump hadn’t mentioned.

Give me a break. It’s the classic move: when good news happens under a conservative administration, especially Trump’s, they have to downplay it, hedge it, or find some way to tell you it’s not really good news. They just can’t bring themselves to give credit where it’s due without a laundry list of caveats. It’s a pattern as predictable as a rooster’s crow at dawn – if the rooster also had a PhD in spin.

So, what’s the upshot of this whole breakfast-aisle battle? It’s more than just a chuckle at CNN’s expense, though that’s certainly part of the fun. It’s another reminder that the “experts” in the legacy media are often far removed from the realities everyday Americans face and are even further removed from objectivity when President Trump is involved. Their eagerness to be “right” often blinds them to the actual truth, especially when that truth vindicates policies designed to help working families. It underscores why so many have turned to common sense and trusted leadership that actually delivers, rather than to talking heads who are consistently, and often gleefully, wrong.

Key Takeaways:

  • MSM like CNN often show bias, discrediting Trump only to be proven wrong by facts.
  • Trump’s policies deliver real benefits, like falling grocery prices, helping American families.
  • Conservatives must remain skeptical of MSM narratives and seek truth-focused sources.
