Woke AG Sues Sheriff Over Illegals, He Responds “Bring It On”

Apparently, “following the law” is now optional for blue state leaders—at least when it comes to immigration enforcement under President Trump. The same Democrats who spent years lecturing Americans about the “sanctity of our institutions” are now racing to block federal immigration authorities from doing their job. Talk about selective law enforcement!

Washington state’s Democratic leadership has taken this hypocrisy to spectacular new heights, actually suing their own sheriffs for daring to cooperate with federal immigration authorities. Who knew that helping catch criminal aliens would become a crime itself in 2025? But that’s exactly what’s happening in the Evergreen State, where sanctuary politics have apparently trumped public safety.

Sheriff’s Badge Meets Attorney General’s Lawsuit

One Washington sheriff isn’t taking this lying down. Klickitat County Sheriff Bob Songer has a simple message for state officials trying to stop him from working with ICE: “Bring it on, I’ll fight them.”

From ‘Fox News’:

“They honestly feel that they can just run over everybody,” he said, adding, “Bring it on, I’ll fight them.”

His defiant response comes after Washington Attorney General Nick Brown launched a lawsuit against the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, accusing them of “illegally collaborating” with federal officials and the Trump administration. The alleged crime? Holding illegal immigrants in custody, helping federal agents question people, and sharing information with federal officials.

Brown’s lawsuit cites the 2019 Keep Washington Working Act, which explicitly prohibits law enforcement in the state from providing aid in immigration enforcement. It’s a sanctuary policy dressed up in bureaucratic language, and it’s putting Washington sheriffs in the crosshairs for doing what many Americans would consider their basic duty.

Armed and Dangerous: When ICE Gets Iced Out

While Democratic leaders work overtime to obstruct immigration enforcement, real public safety threats aren’t waiting for politicians to sort out their priorities.

Just this week, U.S. Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks posted on social media that agents had partnered with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office to arrest a Mexican national and suspected illegal firearms dealer. The bust netted rifles, shotguns, and pistols that won’t be hitting the streets—no thanks to state policy.

Sheriff Songer isn’t mincing words about the absurdity of the situation. He called the state’s approach “lunacy” and labeled Democratic leadership as “whack nuts.”

“Why would a governor and legislator and Brown, the new attorney general, why would they not want law enforcement to cooperate with ICE to go after bad people that are illegally in our country that have committed felonies and very serious felonies?” Songer asked.

It’s a question that sanctuary-state supporters seem unwilling to answer, probably because doing so would expose the dangerous reality behind their virtue-signaling policies.

Constitution vs. Sanctuary: The Law of the Land

Songer believes the Constitution is squarely on his side in this fight, and he’s encouraging fellow sheriffs to stand their ground against this radical state overreach.

“I hope my fellow sheriffs will stand up to the governor and this state and tell them these laws are unconstitutional and we’re not going to cooperate,” he said. “We just need to pay attention and follow the Constitution and I think if we do that, we’re going to have a better country.”

The sheriff’s message to Washington residents is refreshingly straightforward: “Citizens come first.”

And his message to federal immigration officials couldn’t be clearer: “I pray, I absolutely pray for Tom Homan to come to Washington state, the blue state and sanctuary state, because I really believe Ferguson, Brown and their cohorts, elected politicians, are in violation of federal law. And if they are, lock them up.”

Sheriff Songer may be outnumbered by state officials, but he’s not outgunned when it comes to constitutional authority. As this showdown between local law enforcement and state sanctuary policies continues, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: President Trump’s immigration enforcement agenda will ultimately succeed or fail based on the courage of local officials willing to stand up to sanctuary state bullying.

Key Takeaways:

  • Washington state is suing sheriffs who cooperate with federal immigration authorities.
  • Brave local sheriffs like Bob Songer are fighting back
  • The conflict exposes the blatant hypocrisy of Democratic leaders who selectively enforce laws based on political agenda rather than public safety.
