Michael Cohen is the “star witness” in Democrats’ criminal trial against Donald Trump. The former Trump lawyer claimed the former president committed crimes by paying “hush money” and falsifying documents.
Cohen has already served time in jail for lying about his work for Trump. This week, however, he took the stand and provided audio proving his claims. But, as it is turning out, this “ace” evidence might have sunk the prosecution’s case.
From Just the News:
When their star witness Michael Cohen played a tape he secretly made of his ex-boss and client, the recording appeared to show that Trump was unaware of key details, seemingly aloof to a plan that Cohen himself admitted he had concocted to make the so-called “hush money” payments.Like the glove too small to fit OJ Simpson, the Cohen tape may prove an explosive boomerang that benefits the defense more than the prosecution.
A secretly recorded conversation between Cohen and Trump was submitted as evidence in the ongoing criminal trial. But the tape does not appear to prove Trump was involved in some kind of conspiracy to break the law.
Instead, the audio appears to exonerate Trump. The audio seems to be doing the opposite of what Cohen claimed. And it might end up helping the defense much more than the prosecution. With this “bombshell” wrecking Democrats’ scheme, even CNN had to admit this one thing.
From Daily Caller:
Three attorneys told CNN on Tuesday that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s case against former President Donald Trump is not going well…“This case hasn’t gone in the way I think it was billed to go in. So as the as the days go on and this case looks weaker and weaker, I think it’s probably less that they have to put on for defense.”
Several attorneys explained to CNN hosts that the case against Trump is “not going well.” One of the lawyers explained that the “star witness” Cohen hurt his own testimony by admitting his bias against Trump. All his claims are questionable when he admitted he wanted Trump in jail.
After all, how can the jury believe he is being honest—when he is open about his hatred for Trump?
Experts have previously scolded New York DA Bragg for bringing this case to court in the first place. The accused crime is usually a misdemeanor, yet Bragg elevated it to a felony charge for seemingly no reason (outside of the fact that Trump is running for president).
As the days drag on, it does not look as if the prosecution is making a good case against Trump. His lawyers have ample material to tear their accusations apart. But all will rest on the jury—which might still hold a bias against Trump, given they are from a deep blue state like New York.
Key Takeaways:
- Michael Cohen’s tape against Trump seemed to exonerate him instead.
- Three top lawyers told CNN that the case against him is getting “weaker and weaker.”
- Democrat prosecutors indicted Trump for seemingly political reasons.
