In the past two years, Trump has been raising funds, mainly through his Save America PAC, in anticipation of a third presidential run in as many elections. The Save America PAC has raised over $100 million from the beginning of 2021 through Oct. 19, 2022, per the Federal Election Commission. The latest cash-on-hand numbers say the PAC has more than $69 million.

People are currently only able to contribute $2,900 to a federal candidate for an election cycle, per the FEC.

Earlier this year, Trump’s associates launched the MAGA Inc. super PAC, which allows his supporters to spend endless amounts of money for his campaign.

Trump broke records after leaving office, raising money through his PAC “Save America.” He’s spent much of that money on 2022 efforts. But according to reports, he has on hand over $69 million.

That’s a large chunk of change, for this early in an election cycle. Trump’s team is no doubt already raising funds off the back of his announcement. Millions of Americans (including big donors) are probably already opening their wallets to help.

Trump made waves in 2016 by entirely self-funding his primary race. He won over supporters because he wasn’t taking big bucks from traditional donors. This time around, however, he will likely attract lots of support from various sources.

Because he’s already campaigning for 2024, he has a jump on anyone else within the GOP who wants to run. Anyone else that is considering a 2024 bid will have to decide soon if they want to start a campaign.

Many have speculated on whether Mike Pence, Ron DeSantis, or other key figures within the GOP will make a play for the White House. With Trump already running, they might have to move fast if they want to build their own war chest.
