Every member of Congress raises their right hand and swears to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. That’s not a suggestion. It’s not a bumper sticker. It’s a binding promise to the American people that their elected representatives will put this nation’s security above personal ideology. Most who serve understand that weight. But a stubborn faction in Congress treats the oath as a speed bump on their march to dismantle the very systems keeping Americans alive.

So what happens when a sitting lawmaker introduces legislation engineered to blind our national security agencies? When that same lawmaker has spent years demonizing the men and women who enforce our immigration laws — calling them cruel, calling their work “chaos,” smearing their agencies as criminal enterprises? At some point, rhetoric and action merge into something that demands more than a sternly worded press release. It demands real consequences.

From Fox News:

Progressive Democrats are taking their war against President Donald Trump’s handling of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to the skies with a new effort led by far-left Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich.

Tlaib introduced a bill on Tuesday aimed at blocking ICE and Border Patrol agents from accessing air travelers’ data called the No TSA Data for ICE Act, which would curb federal immigration officials’ ability to arrest noncitizens at U.S. airports.

And there it is. Rashida Tlaib wants to stop federal law enforcement agencies from communicating with each other. At airports, of all places. Her bill would prohibit ICE and Customs and Border Protection from accessing TSA passenger screening records, travel data, and identifying information. Translation: when an illegal immigrant strolls through airport security, the agencies responsible for enforcing immigration law get deliberately kept in the dark. That’s not reform. That’s sabotage.

A bill designed to blind America

The TSA’s response was direct — and absolutely warranted:

“As we approach the 25th anniversary of the horrific terror attacks of 9/11, it’s not shocking that some in the Democrat Party would want to neuter the Department of Homeland Security’s ability to protect Americans from terrorists. DHS was established to prevent information silos that could create blind spots against threats. Does Rep. Tlaib want our enemies to be empowered to attack the U.S. again?”

That question deserves a straight answer. The Department of Homeland Security exists for one foundational reason: federal agencies failed to share critical intelligence before September 11, 2001. Nearly three thousand Americans — mothers, fathers, first responders — paid the ultimate price for those information silos. Congress built DHS to guarantee it never happened again. Now Tlaib wants to legislate those walls right back into place. Not over some principled national security concern, mind you. Because she believes illegal immigrants deserve protection from the consequences of violating American law.

The sheer audacity of it is staggering.

Tlaib’s real agenda

Her own words expose everything. Tlaib called the TSA “complicit in ICE expanding its chaos and cruelty to target our communities in our airports.” She cited a source claiming ICE views airport travelers as “easy targets” and labeled it “a disgusting exploitation of immigrants in status limbo.” She proclaimed that immigrants “should be able to safely fly in this country without the fear of arrest or deportation.”

Notice the language carefully. She’s not arguing the system is broken. She’s arguing the system shouldn’t function at all — that law enforcement agencies coordinating to enforce federal law is itself the offense. This is the same representative whose colleagues have accused her of Hezbollah ties on the House floor. The same lawmaker whose party held DHS funding hostage for 76 days to protest immigration enforcement. At a certain point, a pattern stops being coincidental and starts being a mission statement.

Time for accountability

Here’s the uncomfortable truth Washington needs to hear. Tlaib’s bill won’t pass a Republican-controlled Congress — thank heavens for that. But its failure doesn’t excuse the intent behind it. When a sitting member of Congress deliberately introduces legislation designed to cripple national security coordination and shield individuals who’ve broken federal immigration law, that transcends policy disagreement. That is a dereliction of the oath she swore.

Rashida Tlaib should be removed from office. Not censured. Not given a talking-to by leadership. Removed. The American people — particularly those who still carry the scars of September 11th in their bones — deserve representatives who treat their safety as non-negotiable. Tlaib has made it abundantly, repeatedly clear that she is not among them. Congress needs to act accordingly.

Key Takeaways

  • Tlaib’s bill would block ICE from accessing TSA data, deliberately blinding security agencies at airports.
  • The legislation recreates the deadly pre-9/11 information silos that cost nearly 3,000 American lives.
  • TSA officials condemned the bill as empowering enemies to attack the United States again.
  • Tlaib’s persistent pattern of undermining law enforcement warrants her removal from Congress.
